Volunteer
With 1600 members and growing, we currently have over 150 volunteers!
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and become more involved in the club. Volunteering also helps out the club, as many aspects are managed by its members.
All the income collected by the individual clubs within the Evergreen family and by the Evergreen Lounge food services and special events are invested back into the club to pay for expenses and buy new equipment.
To get started, fill out a Volunteer Registration Form and submit to the Filberg Centre front counter, or in person or by email to Cathy Audia (email address below). Thank you!
If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact the Assistant Evergreen Club Coordinator, Cathy Audia at 250.338.1000, or email caudia@courtenay.ca.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Have you been meaning to start giving back to the club by volunteering? Then perhaps this is the year! Read the Volunteer Call Out section in the newsletter each month to see our current volunteer opportunities. There is always a new way to contribute.
Trip Hosts
We are looking for trip host volunteers who would enjoy overseeing our bus trips. Bus trips are typically between 5 and 12 hours and can take us as far as Tofino, Victoria or the Lower Mainland. A trip host oversees the itinerary, keep attendance, is the point of contact with businesses, provides support to our travelers and trouble shoots any problems that may arise. An ideal candidate has good organizational skills, trouble shooting skills, is good in an emergency situation, and has excellent people skills. All training is provided.
Bingo Volunteers
Our Bingo activity club currently has two volunteer opportunities; Bingo Caller and a Bingo Rep. The caller position is typically once every third week on Fridays starting at 12:30 pm. Callers accept payment, call the numbers and verify the winning cards working with the support of the Bingo team. The Bingo Rep works with the support of the Evergreen staff to keep the members up to date on any scheduling changes, as well as submits a monthly write up for the newsletter.
Relief Kitchen Volunteers
Would you like to join the kitchen crew but find it hard to commit to a schedule in advance? Perhaps putting your name on our on-call only volunteer list is the answer. On call kitchen volunteers form a valuable part of the kitchen team as they fill in for unexpected appointments or illnesses of our kitchen volunteers. Shifts may come available several weeks in advance up to the same day. There is never an obligation to accept a shift if it does not work for your schedule.
