President’s Message - December 2025
A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president
Greetings all!!... Well, it's "HO HO HO Time" again, and is it my imagination or does "The Yule" come around more often as we age?? When I became a "SENIOR" some 20 years ago, it seemed that Christmas didn't jump out at us with such frequency but now that I have reached "SENIOR SENIOR" status, Wow!!... However, let us not dwell on the complexities of aging but keep our spirits high and enjoy another wonderful Christmas season. It is that special time of the year when families gather and enjoy what the season brings. It is also a time to give thanks to all the special people in one's world. As club President I'd like to give thanks to Rebecca and her team for their stalwart performances in leading the club in what this club is all about. Thanks to Cathy, Alisha, Paula and Janet. Also to all of our volunteers, past, present, and those to follow... THANKS!
Let me not forget our membership at large. We have a large and faithful membership these days... a recovery from those nasty old COVID times. By the way, the club membership renewal deal is still available for those who have not yet done so. It is available until December 20th at a $5 discount.
Now it’s onto a little club stuff. The Second Stage Players presentation of “’The Hurdy Gurdy Inn” was very well received. The Cast and Crew received a standing ovation and many said it was their very best play yet. Our Remembrance Day salute with music and readings went well, and our second Pub Night with Ruckus was a big hit.
Some upcoming items to mention. The Comox Valley Concert Band will perform on Sunday, November 30th at 2:00 pm. Double Play hosts our Friday Night Dance Christmas themed dance on December 5th. An in house Craft Market is running until December 12th in the Evergreen Lounge. Donations of homemade items are still being accepted. We will hold a bake sale on Tuesday, December 2nd in the Evergreen Lounge from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Donations will be accepted on Monday, December 1st and before 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 2nd. The always popular Members’ Turkey Lunch is on Wednesday, December 17th... some of the members of our Ukulele Club will be there to entertain us with some Christmas music. Our New Years Eve dance party will be held on Wednesday, December 31st from 7:30 pm to 12:30 am. A couple of upcoming trips, Elf: The Musical at the Chemainus Theatre on Wednesday, December 3rd and the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular on Wednesday, December 10th. That's about a wrap for now folks... enjoy the season... and wishing you the jolliest of joys and the merriest of memories all season long... MERRY CHRISTMAS AND AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR... ADIOS!!!... gk
