President’s Message - December 2024
A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president
Greetings once again everyone!!... not only is this the "Last Report For '24"... it is for those who may not be aware that "The Yuletide Season Is Upon Us"... although I am pretty sure that most of you, if not all of you are very aware. The Christmas festive season is hopefully a special time for all. This is the time when we get to enjoy all the traditions of the yuletide season and enjoy those traditions with our family and friends. It is a time to remember when the parents of your grandchildren were there with you wide eyed and overjoyed at the thought of Christmas and all that Santa would bring. It was a time to gather around and sit next to a dead tree and eat candy out of stockings... and a season filled with surprises, joy, laughter, and happiness... and it still is.
It is also a time for me to give thanks to our membership and on behalf of the Executive Board members and myself I'd like to do just that. It may seem a bit early but it's my only opportunity to do this before the yule season is upon us. Thank you to all at the Evergreen Club for being part of this great organization.
May the spirit of Christmas, bring you peace... the gladness of Christmas give you hope... and the warmth of Christmas grant you love... and may 2025 offer you all that you wish for. "MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR”.
And now onto a few club items that I would like to mention. The Comox Valley Concert Band will be with us on Sunday December 1st with their version of "Midnight Sleighride". The concert will be a ride through classic tunes. The concert will be held in the Filberg Conferenence Hall starting at 1pm. Next up will be the Evergreen Club Christmas Concert on Friday December 6th in the Conference Hall starting at 1pm. It will feature The Choristers, The Singin' Sistas, The Ukulele Group, plus surprise EG musical acts. It will be a walk down memory lane for all. The New Year’s Eve Dance Party will take place on Tuesday December 31st in the Conference Hall from 7:30 pm 'till 12:30 am. Sweet and savory snacks will be provided at the break and there will be a licenced bar with beer, wine, cider, and coolers. Dance music will be provided by "The Amigos". It will be a "Golden Evening" and is an EG fundraiser. Tickets are limited. And that's about a wrap for the last Evergreen Newsletter of '24....have a magical holiday season everyone.....see you in '25...Adios!!...gk
