President’s Message - November 2023
A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president
Greetings Everyone!!! It's November and it sure felt like it out there over the last few dying days of October. I'm writing this report the day before Halloween so I can't comment on the Halloween weather but the snow that magically appeared a few days ago would indicate that anything is possible. I have been in this marvelous valley for many years now and I can't remember many, if any, times that we've had snow before Halloween. But I guess with all this climate nonsense going on these days, one could, and one should, expect just about anything in terms of weather. But let's move on to other things.
It has been a busy fall season at the Evergreen. We are growing as an organization and are now approaching 2000 members. The last number that I heard was 1951 members but we seem to be in constant growth mode and I expect that we will reach the 2000 mark soon. COVID played a very large role in our numbers and we dropped considerably during that time period but now it's onward and forward to bigger and better things. Are we ready???.....you bet we are. We have "Activity Clubs" galore.....there is something for anyone and everyone. For our newer members or our prospective members, I'm sure you will find the club or clubs you are looking for.
Our recent Rock n’ Roll Pub Night was a sellout and by all accounts went over very well and as a fundraiser for the club it was a success. We raised about $1000 for the Evergreen Club which always helps us in our our operations to keep you all happy. Many thanks to Janet for all her efforts in organizing it and many thanks to all those who attended.
A couple of upcoming events that will be of interest to you are "The Music Of The War Years" production on Tuesday November 7th and "The Evergreen Club Christmas Craft Market and Bake Sale" on Wednesday November 15th. Both of these events are fundraisers for our Evergeen Club. Upcoming December events will include the Comox Valley Concert Band, the Drama Club's Scattered Skits and the New Years Eve Party. Tickets for these December events will go on sale in early November. Our "Trip Program" continues to evolve and a couple of good ones are scheduled in November. "Shop, Dine and Roll The Dice" is scheduled for Tuesday November 14th and "Tulalip Resort Getaway Seattle" is set to go from November 19th to November 21st. A scheduled December trip is called "Butchart Gardens at Christmas" and is set for Tuesday December 12th & 13th. Details for all of these trips are included in this newsletter.
That's about a wrap kids.....just remember to "Accept what is..... let go of what was.....and have faith in what will be". It will make your life so much better!!
ADIOS my friends!!....gk
