July/August 2023 - President’s Message

A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president

Greetings once again everyone......Summer has arrived and the weather has been pretty fine. The longest day of 2023 has come and gone and believe it or not the days are now getting shorter by the day. But before we succumb to the cold and rain let's all have some "SUMMER FUN". Janet is healing by the way and her injured wrist in coming around nicely and that is good to hear. We have had a pretty busy winter and spring at the Evergreen but as some of our clubs slow down or have a summer stop over July and August, it will probably quiet down a bit. There will be a few new day trips over the summer and you should check the trip page in this newsletter if you have some interest. Don't forget to make sure your membership is up to date as that is a requirement for our trips.

Another thing to enjoy these days is our air conditioned lounge. You may want to drop around for lunch or a snack and enjoy them in air conditioned comfort.

Right around the corner on Saturday July 1st is the July 1st “Tea Dance” presented by the Evergreen Club. It’s all part of Courtenay’s Canada Day Celebrations. The Georgia Strait Big Band will be there and cake and beverages will be served......and once again, all is free. The weather forecast is very promising so it should be a great day.

Or how about our "Ice Cream Social" on Wednesday August 16th at Riverside Park which is across the street from the Centre....ice cream and entertainment and it's all free. And once again, don't forget to check our travel pages in this newsletter as there are some great travel ideas there that I'm sure will peak your interest.

“HAVE A GREAT SUMMER”.....

Adios my friends....have a wonderful “CANADA DAY”. ....gk
