March 2021 - President’s Message
A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president
Greetings!!!....well here we are once again with all of you still on the outside looking in and me finding it very difficult to find anything good or positive to say. It's been a long time now that we have had to face this almost intolerable situation with this pandemic thing. I will now not offer any further ideas on what I think will happen or what I think the outcome might be with our Evergreen Club. Janet will I'm sure discuss our immediate future and what is happening in her column. I am somewhat concerned about what is happening around us in the Comox Valley. We have been very fortunate since this whole thing started to have had very low numbers and have felt somewhat secure. While others in our province and in our country and for that matter in our world have suffered immensely from very high numbers, we on the Island and particularly the North Island have remained quite fortunate and have maintained a low count. However I am now hearing that our numbers are increasing and the evil Covid has hit our schools, our businesses and to some degree our population. So this is no time to feel smug or forget about our safety measures. With best efforts, it is quite necessary to continue with the protocols that have been in place for some time now. Masking and distancing should remain a priority and reduced levels of socializing should be continued. Hopefully with our continued attention, this local Covid activity will not be a big problem and we may turn to a more normal way of life soon. Janet and her team have prepared some wonderful plans and ideas for re-starting and with good management and a little good luck we may be able to see them through soon.
Dealing with the pandemic and all it brings has been a long and arduous process for all of us. However staying positive and in control of your own world will continue to be of utmost importance to your well being. Facing each day with gratitude for all you have rather than feeling resentment for what you are dealing with is a great way to carry on. No doubt there is a tendency to feel frightened when dealing with the unknown but many of these things are beyond our control anyway and we are best equipt to go with the flow and deal with things as required. It's a great idea to stay informed and educated about this unfortunate crisis so you can understand and deal with things that may occur. Hope is a great elixir in all of this and taking a moment every now and then to appreciate what may be when this whole thing goes away will provide for a good feel. Focusing as much as possible on the good things and not immersing too much in the negative side of things is necessary for your sanity and survival. Be good to yourself and be good to those around you.....stay strong and resilient......remember that loving and caring leaves less space for fears and uncertainties. So until the next time....."STAY SAFE and STAY WELL"........
I firmly believe that better days are ahead and I hope you will join me in my belief.......ADIOS for now...gk
