November 2021 - President’s Message
A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president
Greetings Everyone!!...It seems it is now relatively safe to say we are "OPEN" for business.
There are certainly things that are different from those days when we were forced to shut the shop down, but life at the Evergreen has finally recovered to a workable activity and our membership is getting back in the flow.
Most of our "Activity Clubs" have reopened to some degree and Janet and her crew are working hand in hand with the various reps to make things happen in this Covid environment.
Our next Executive meeting is on Monday November 8th and as part of that meeting Activity Club reps will join us at 11am. It is the first time we have all gotten together since March of 2020....ALL ACTIVITY REPS ARE INVITED.
Janet will be filling you in on further club news and updates in her report in this issue. I would like to move along and briefly discuss the issue of "Vaccine Passports". It seems to be a hot topic at the moment and it can all seem a little confusing at first glance. As of October 30th there will be two passports required by BC residents. That is because our BC passport....the one that you have now...is not completely compatible with the new Federal passport that the Feds are releasing on October 30th. This new Federal passport will be available to you on and after October 30th and will be available to you in the same way as your BC passport was....by using the Health Gateway (healthgateway.gov.bc.ca).....or by phone...or by mail. Full details are available at.....( gov.bc.ca/vaccinecard ). The BC passport that you have now will continue to be used for non essential activities as it is now. The new Federal passport will be required if you travel by planes or trains within Canada or travel internationally from any Canadian airport or any other federally regulated transportation method. Until your Federal card is available you will be able to use the BC card as proof of vaccination for travel within Canada....it will be a one month grace period until November 30th.
I've tried to keep it as simple as possible....hopefully I have hit on all the important points......remember that a "DOUBLE DOSE" is required and masks are required....so "Bon Voyage".....gk
