June 2020 - President's Message

Submitted by Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club President

Greetings everyone!!!.....Well here we are folks, stuck in the middle of something that has changed our lives to something we would never have imagined could happen. Somewhere back a few weeks ago we were all introduced to the Devil in Disguise, a virus that no one expected could be this mean and this life altering. Give it a few weeks we said and it will quietly slip away. Well folks, much to my dismay and I'm sure yours, it's hanging in there and being pretty tough. Covid 19 has found a home in pretty well every corner of the world and we live with the consequences of that on an ongoing basis.

So, we have all had an opportunity to live with this "THING" for several weeks now and it has changed our lives immensely. Some of us have handled it better than others but there has been problems amongst us all. Our club has been taken from us temporarily and along with that so have all the activities that we all participate in to some degree. Everything Evergreen has come to a grinding halt. I'm sure that many of you if not all of you miss what we have lost during all this chaos. We are doing our very best to get you back to some kind of normal......whatever that new normal is going to be. Janet and her team of Cathy and Alisha are working diligently to overcome the many obstacles that will be part of our future when we finally get back....and we will get back. We will have to do many things differently and there will have to be adjustments made. It's something for us to think about in the interim while we wait and prepare for that "NEW NORMAL". What's still out there right now is that great Evergreen Club we so dearly love and all the wonderful people that are it's mind, body and soul. Fear not my friends....we will return!!

And I think it behooves us all to look after ourselves and look after each other. Socializing is such an important part of our life and if we are not careful during these trying times we can experience a loneliness that can make life very difficult. Always try to set your mind at ease during these times and try to maintain a positive attitude about the future....because there is a future. After all....." IT'S ONLY A VIRUS" .....and we need not succumb to such a mean spirited enemy. Have that overwhelming desire to stay ahead of all this. Hopefully by the time I write my next article we will be back or very close to being back.....STAY SAFE & STAY WELL!!!

ADIOS...gk
