President’s Message - June 2024
Submitted by Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president
Greetings one and all!!...Another month has come and gone and it's now June that is upon us. No other month of the year starts on the same day of the week as June....and it is the month that boasts the day of longest daylight hours for the year. Summer is supposed to be official on that same day....June 21st. However it seems summer is having a difficult time getting started this time around and for the most part the so called summer weather has been anything but summery. However, I would bet that better things are coming.
I had the opportunity to attend the Rock & Roll Revival show this Sunday past and I must say that it was an excellent show that was put on by the cast that volunteered their talents. The "Singing Sistas" and Kelly Thomas did great service to a number of old rock tunes from our earlier years. This group of ladies included Heather Rapin, Maureen Faust, June Munro, Heather Sprout, Holly Davidson on vocals and Kelly Thomas on the keys. The Rock Band "Spend't" and our very own Greg DeSchutter filled out the program and provided their versions of some great old rock tunes....and did an outstanding job. A number of our members provided excellent support services to make the program come together. There were over 250 in attendance. All in all...KUDOS to all.
Next up is the is the Evergreen Club's "Seniors Ball" which is happening on Saturday June 8th. It will be held in the Conference hall and doors will open at 6:30 pm. The music will be professionally DJ'd from 7pm to 10pm. It is a dress-up evening, so dress in your finest and dance the night away. This is a fundraiser for the Evergreen Club. The Choristers Concert entitled "Memories of Love" will take place on Friday June 21st and Saturday June 22nd in the Rotary Hall. Both shows will start at 1pm. A couple of interesting day trips are scheduled for June. Sunday June16th will be the Denman Island Garden Tour and will provide an opportunity for an extraordinary journey though a dozen unique homes and gardens. There will be a lunch stopover at Corlan Vineyard And Farm. The other trip in June is the "Sail To The Symphony" tour in Powell River. This will take place on Saturday June 29th. Further details and information on these tours can be found in this newsletter.
And now a few things to ponder before I go...."if a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing"...."why are you IN a movie but ON TV"...."can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane".......THAT'S ENOUGH!!!....... Adios Y'all...gk
