President’s Message - April 2025

A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club president

Greetings to all!!.. And so quickly another month has passed and it's April. April is when spring has supposedly sprung and the weather should reflect that... I'll let you be the judge. If things go according to plan, the sky will be brighter and clearer and the grass will be greener... once again you can be the judge. Anyway, in 1969 a group of Halifax rockers believed all this and formed a bad called "April Wine"... and had considerable success... and some of you may have danced to the band. That's when you were still ROCKIN'... not so much now!! And of course April is also about "April Fools Day" which is an annual custom on April's first day. That's when the jokesters and hoaxsters have the opportunity to shout "April Fools" toward your stupidity and embarrass you in front of all your friends. The good thing is that it only lasts 'till noon.

Well, that's enough of that April chatter as I must get on to club stuff. I'd first of all give a shout out to Activity Club Reps. The Evergreen Club as a whole is based on the success of our Activity Clubs. The Reps are the backbone of the Activity Clubs and I'd to thank for their efforts and leadership. We have 52 clubs on the go right now so the Activity Club rep leadership is vital to keeping it all going....Thanks Folks.

There are some special happenings this month. The Evergreen Members Easter Luncheon happens on Monday April 14th from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in the Rotary Hall. Please note that there are no takeouts. Then there is a double shot of the Murder Mystery, Murder At The Roaring 20's Speakeasy on Wednesday April 23rd at 1:30 pm and again on Thursday April 25th at 7:00 pm. Both performances will be in Conference Hall. Along with that, we have the April Evergreen Pub Night on Friday April 4th with local entertainer Anela Kahiamoe providing the music.

And a few things to look forward to. The Cirque du Soleil CRYSTAL trip to the Save On Food Place in Victoria will happen Sunday May 11th the cut off date has passed but please add your name to the wait list and we may be able to secure more tickets. There is also a trip to the Chemainus Theatre on Wednesday May 28th for Baskerville: Sherlock Holmes... details on page 15 of the newsletter.

That's about a wrap for now folks... Adios My friends..gk
