President’s Message - February 2023

A message from Gord Kruger, Evergreen Club President

Greetings once again everyone!!....and without a backward glance we have become the people of 2023 as another year ended and another year has started. I find it somewhat difficult to realize that time has so rapidly marched on. I personally cannot believe how "OLD" I have become in what I felt was such a short space of time. But I guess I'm not alone on this venture and I'm sure many, if not most, of you have had many of the same feelings. Life itself is good, really good in fact but it is a shame that it seems to pass by us so quickly. Anyway, enough of this diatribe and it's onward and forward to things of that have recently happened, things that are happening, and things that are about to happen at the Evergreen.

The New Year’s Eve Dance Party was by all accounts a great evening and a very successful happening. There was a superb crowd of happy people and the atmosphere was excellent throughout the evening. The turn out was excellent, the "Amigos" kept the dance floor full of happy dancers all evening, and the "The Eats" really were a highlight of the evening. Our front office team of Janet, Cathy, and Alisha and that great crew of VOLUNTEERS that the put together receive my highest compliments for a job REALLY WELL DONE......THANK YOU folks.....and to all of the members and others that attended the function....Thanks much for being there and being part of it......your participation was very much appreciated.

And to top it all, a majority of our guests were still around to sing Auld Lang Syne as we rung in 2023. We will try to do it all again as we wait for 2024. We had the Georgia Strait Big Band in house on Saturday January 21st and we had a very appreciative audience and from what I hear a busy dance floor. Next up is Ralph Barrat and his band "The Sharp Seven". They are here on Saturday February 11 with a 2pm start time. Doors will open at 1:30 and tickets will be available at the door. There will be dance floor availability. This is an Evergreen Club Fundraiser so come out and enjoy some great music and help the club financially. Ralph and the guys do some great "Sinatra". Also on the agenda is our Evergreen Garage Sale. It will be held on Saturday, February 25th in the Rotary Hall. We are still looking for DONATIONS so gather up all the great posessions that you no longer want or need and bring them in to the lower lobby area.....acceptance conditions are detailed in this newsletter.

A couple of other items to mention.....Our long time Custodial Supervisor, Don, is retiring at the end of January......if you get a chance drop by and thank Don for his many years of great service.....The club itself is extremely busy these days with all the activity clubs in high gear.......and we have many new members..... we are a steadily growing group.....our Friday Night Dances have been quite busy so drop by and enjoy a Friday Night if you are able......remember that our special events are fund raisers for our club and your attendance at these functions is very much appreciated.

And before I go......If you see me talking to myself, just move along and pay no heed, I'm self employed and we are having a meeting.......Adios!!...gk
